ABSTRACT:
This paper presents an overview of optimization problems that are solved for the neutron design cycle operation in a nuclear reactor boiling water from a stationary viewpoint. It also shows the complexity of these and the convenience of using optimization techniques based on metaheuristics that allow finding optimal acceptable in reasonable time. We present some results with these techniques and briefly describes some of the work currently being undertaken between the National Nuclear Research Institute of Mexico and the SO group at the University of Granada. The results that have been obtained so far show the appropriateness of continuing to work in the current research.
