ABSTRACT
Briquettes were made with biomass of cocoa husks, coffee, and wheat, adding two organic agglutinants, molasses, and potato peel, then the calorific power was evaluated. The methodology consisted in making 6 models of briquettes with different composition of biomass and different particle sizes, looking for optimal proportions and with the best energy characteristics. The optimal composition of biomass and agglutinants for the cocoa husk Briquette was 53% by weight of cocoa husks to mesh less than 2mm and 47% of agglutinants (molasses and potato peel), obtaining a caloric power value of 9909.59 Kcal/Kg; In the case of coffee briquettes, the optimum composition was 71% by weight of coffee husks to mesh less than 1mm, with 29% by weight of agglutinants (molasses and potato peel), obtaining a caloric power of 9912.81 Kcal/Kg, for the wheat briquette, the optimum composition turned out to be 26% by weight of wheat husk to mesh greater than 2mm with 74% of agglutinants (molasses and potato peel) and a caloric value of 9928.11 Kcal/Kg was obtained. From these results it is determined that the use of biomass with natural binders is an ecological alternative for obtaining briquettes with good calorific power characteristics, giving it a social advantage support for being an alternative to obtain low-cost energy in addition to reducing organic waste from the coffee, cocoa and wheat growing industries that are generally discarded.

Key words: biomass briquettes, organic agglutinants, caloric power.
