ABSTRACT: The present work is based on the medical case of a 19 years old patient with serious problems in the jaw, among which are: the absence of a bone section because of a birth deformity (congenital), facial asymmetry and articulation problems, among others.Throughout his life, the patient has been surgically operated on at least four occasions, in order to solve the aforementioned problems, and thus restore the mobility and the functionality of this important bone structure, but such attempts failed, because the prostheses or implants broke, this due to the absence of a proper planning for the adequate use of materials, assemblies, geometries, and localization of potential failure zones. In order to have a positive result in the future surgical intervention, a detailed planning is made, based on computational tools of three-dimensional modeling and stereolithography, which are used in the reproduction of a three-dimensional model of photoelastic resin to perform an experimental test, whose objective is only identify the areas of possible failure in the prosthesis at the time of its installation, and use this information to reinforce the assembly if is required, because all the prostheses used in the past interventions were fractured. Keywords: prosthesis, jaw, photoelastic study, stereolithography, three-dimensional model
