THE ETERNAL RETURN OF THE HYPERLOOP

More than ten years have passed since the visionary Elon Musk published his proposal for the much talked about tubular transport which, apart from having already had centuries of tests and experiences, had only consolidated itself as a modest means of movement for documents and/or parcels that other more modern means had ended up condemning to oblivion.

Elon Musk did do something else: he created a university competition in his own company SPACE X where, in a scaled-down tube, teams from technical schools around the world presented their proposals for small capsules in the form of a championship of innovators. It only lasted a few years, between 2015 and 2019.
However, a multitude of start-ups have been born in the heat of the development of this idea, and DYNA news has reported on it, most recently in February last year with the creation of one of the most active European associations (https://www.revistadyna.com/noticias-de-ingenieria/se-crea-hyperloop-association-con-sede-en-bruselas). Supported by their members and public aid, they have continued their progress in the technical, constructive and regulatory aspects of this means of transport with different types of agreements, projects, possibilities, etc., but without any reality that would allow a glimpse of concrete facts. Only two of the organisations have carried out real work: the American Hyperloop One with a 500 m route in Nevada (USA) for a human-passenger capsule and Hyperloop TT with its 300 m route in Toulouse (France), which has not yet been tested.
The latest news is of a different nature: Hyperloop One has announced that it will not continue its progress in passenger transport, although it will continue with studies to move containers, possibly in ports. But Hyperloop TT offers some hope that, albeit on a line of reduced length, it can hope to draw conclusions for the future: it aspires to build what would be the world's first commercial hyperloop section, in Italy, with a project that would link the Venice-Mestre station and Padua, some 40 km, although initially only 10 km would be built for trials and tests. Together with Italian companies Webuild and Leonardo, he will carry out a feasibility study for Concessioni Autostradali Venete (CAV) on a hyperloop line between the two cities. It would include a design and detailed engineering phase and the subsequent final phase of construction, testing and certification.
